1. Text Feature Informational Website: http://www.studyzone.org/testprep/ela4/o/textfeatures4l.cfm
This website is just a great source to have for what exactly text features are and how to use them in your classroom. I will refer to this website before teaching text features to my students. This website will be helpful for my Civil War unit and any other unit in my classroom.
This powerpoint is great! It is a fun way to teach about text features such as table of contents, index, glossary, and titles. I would use this powerpoint to teach my class about text features. If I chose not to use it to teach the students, I can use it as a way to teach myself before going over this subject with the students.
3.Text Features Anchor Chart : http://christine-readingisthinking.blogspot.com/2010/07/text-features.html
This is a link to a great anchor chart for text features. This would be a helpful anchor chart to have hanging in the classroom all year for students to refer to. I will use this chart to help teach about text features during the Civil War unit and all other units needing it year round. Text features are important for students to know because many Civil War books have mass amounts of them and the students need to know how to use text features to expand their knowledge.
